Human emotions-Anger

In this series called “Human emotions”, I am planning to analyze psychological background of human feelings and their actual stemming places. One of the most intense emotional states, anger and aggression are the main problem in various societies. It is highly important to know how anger emerges in the brain and psychology of humans with the purpose of preventing these kinds of occurrences.

According to the major articles and findings, anger is not the primary emotion; rather, it is thought to be a secondary emotion. In a broader sense, anger and aggression is the defense mechanism of our brains against any form of pain, including mental and physical. In my opinion, anger is the natural reaction of humans in case of any interruptions to their targets, goals and self-interest.  Despite being highly natural, anger has a lot of psychological costs affecting humans` overall health in a bad manner. For instance, regarding medical side, angry people tend to live so severe diseases, such as heart attacks, high blood pressure or even mental disorders. Moreover, aggression has some side effects on the social portrayal of people, too. Aggressive people are generally regarded unpleasant in the society and their ideas, regardless of their value, are ignored because of the way they are told. However, psychological results of anger can be both positive and negative. The proper amount of aggression allows humans to feel themselves more comfortable due to the fact that they believe their anger would solve the disruptions and pain. It is called psychological comfort.   On the other hand, continuous state of being angry toward others inevitably leads to the mental state in which a person is not attuned to others` cares, needs and rights; thus, it is highly probable for him or her to destruct others` liberties to dictate his or her thoughts. Considering all these, it can be inferred that the drawbacks of this issue far exceed its positive outcomes. So, how can it be possible to get rid of our aggression?

Firstly, it is not easy to change routine of emotions and it demands a huge amount of time allocated for practice in the daily life situations. In this part, I want to propose my solution based on philosophical aspects. Seneca, a Roman Stoic philosopher, is often referenced when discussing anger. In his philosophy the aim of which was bringing a true happiness to humans` lives, anger had always been regarded destructive natural force of humans and hugest barrier to being truly happy. Seneca was holding the view that human brain can control its most intense feelings, even anger. By the same token, he suggested us key things to be implemented. Majority of people feel angry when being subject to any behavior or action unpleasant and detrimental for their purposes. For Seneca, anger is driven from our shock and surprise at seeing something bad happening as a result of which unescapable reaction, aggression, happens. He further concludes his thoughts by arguing that if humans were pre-prepared to any harmful action and, realistically, understood that some unpleasant things, problems and barriers were quite possible to be faced up, the strength of their reaction containing aggression would eventually go down.In other words, humans become angry because they do not pay attention to a potential negative result, generally focus on the positive side; therefore, when something bad and unexpected happens, they begin to be angry, stressful and full of despair.

To sum up, in the paragraphs above, I did my best to create the general portrayal of essential human feeling, anger. If you are desiring to turn aggressive behaviors aside from you, you should begin to believe that it is not possible to reach a goal without any difficulties and problems, so be prepared to them for better career path with not aggression.

Ethnic discrimination in terms of human psychology

Unfortunately, people are often exposed to the ethnic discrimination. Specifically, Azerbaijan, my country, is full of people who group others based on their ethnicity and origin. There are respective stereotypes regarding each region: for instance, if someone is from region X, he or she tend to be jealous and mean. Today, I want to share my findings with you as a result of my investigations concerning the psychological causes of the given prejudicial thinking way. In my opinion, the main offensive force leading people to unfairly group others on their ethnicity is the easiness of it. It is so difficult for humans to implement individualist approach, requiring demanding effort to know others personally, in their lives (Scientifically, humans generally choose the easier option even despite the fact that it results in destructive outcome).Instead, it is much easier for human beings to have certain prejudgments in order to spend less time and energy by not obsessing with their chara

Perception vs Reality: What is the actual difference between them?

The subject of matter I am going to discuss is probably mostly used concept of psychology in our daily life situations. Somehow, nearly all of us are subject to misunderstanding by others and think that this is due to the wrong interpretations of them, not us. Actually, there is something we can do in order to prevent these occurrences. However, before going deeper in this issue, let`s find out what perception and reality indicate. Perception  is recognition and clarification of information obtained with the help of sensory organs. For instance, interview panel observes behaviors of applicant and perceives that he or she is a little bit defensive and not open to negative feedback. The perceptions  such as these create our own reality, but it can be far different from the actual  reality . Imagine yourself as a person with full of life energy and commitment to the work you do; nevertheless, your colleagues do believe that you do not love your work and do not fully try to realize

Punishment or rehabilitation: which is more effective technique psychologically?

It is inevitably true that our world has always been full of people committing criminal acts. Currently, there are two main approaches implemented toward these criminals; one is physical or mental punishment and the other is rehabilitation of them, which results in their integration to the society. As far as I know, both techniques are utilized by different systems and philosophical waves: for instance, Islamic juridical system largely focusses on the punishment, while Scandinavian and protestant systems view rehabilitation more advantageous method. In this article, I will draw attention to the psychological outcomes of both and, then, state my own opinion backed up by reliable assumptions and accepted theories of neuroscience. Firstly, it should be clarified in what context the efficacy of punishment and rehabilitation are going to be disclosed. With that aim in mind, I want to give the purpose of prisons; in the widely accepted systems, prisons are used to reduce the probabili
